Position: CNC Blank Preparation Specialist

Department: O.D. Grinding

Location: On-site – Schaumburg, IL

Hours:
• 2nd Shift: 4:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. (Full Time)

Starting Wage Range: $18–$21 per hour, based on skills, aptitude, and training progress

Position Overview:
Spie Tool Company is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented CNC Blank Preparation Specialist to join our growing production team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in preparing precision tool blanks for final grinding operations, ensuring critical dimensional and quality standards are met. This hands-on, entry-level opportunity offers full training and the chance to build valuable technical skills for a long-term career.




Key Responsibilities:
• Operate CNC cylindrical grinders to perform blank preparation
• Inspect and measure parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, comparators, etc.)
• Perform basic machine adjustments to maintain optimal tool geometries (after training and approval)
• Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and support equipment
• Support the Finish Grinding Department as needed to maintain production flow
• Maintain organized workspaces and follow protocols




Qualifications:
• No prior CNC grinding experience required — full training provided
• Ability to use or willingness to learn micrometers, calipers, and other measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Basic mechanical aptitude; manufacturing or machining experience a plus
• Basic computer skills preferred (for logging measurements and interacting with machine controls)




Compensation and Growth Path:
Starting pay ranges from $18–$21 per hour, depending on skills, aptitude, and training progress.
As additional competencies are developed — including independent setup adjustments, precision verification, troubleshooting, and cross-training on finish grinding equipment — employees may advance to higher pay grades, with top performers earning up to $30 per hour.
